Trauma ASSIST

Cool In The Summer Thanks to FCRC Grant

Fraser Coast Regional Council Hits The Right Temperature With Grant Approval.

Wide Bay Sexual Assault Service has been successful in attaining funding for air-conditioning at the Maryborough office under the Fraser Coast 2020-21 Community Grants Program – Rapid Response R2.

The trauma counselling service, now widely known as Trauma Assist, is located in the historic Principals Residence on the grounds of Maryborough Central School.

The addition of air-conditioning to this historic home is a boost for clients and counsellors as sweltering through the summer months previously created a difficult environment for navigating the resolution of trauma impact.

Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Holebrook was delighted with the opportunity to increase comfort for counsellors and clients as well as provide a boost for the school, “This grant will make a significant impact on the wellbeing of our clients, reducing their stress by increasing comfort levels. A cooler environment will also provide us with the opportunity to utilise our premises for larger groups in a more comfortable setting, increasing our community outreach. The benefit of our services across the Wide Bay region for over 20 years, has been to therapeutically remove trauma in our community which reduces the impact on emergency services due to early intervention in suicide, effects of alcohol and drug misuse, and family
    violence.”
